Sri Lanka Society of Nephrology (SLSON) is the official organization representing the nephrologists of Sri Lanka. Its predecessor, Sri Lanka Association of Nephrologists and Transplant Surgeons (SLANT), was officially transformed in to SLSON on the 30th of March 2014 with the dissociation of the transplant surgeons from the society. SLSON membership involves board certified nephrologists of Sri Lanka primarily but also involves nephrology trainees and physicians interested in nephrology. Since its inception the society has been involved with the advancement of education and practices in nephrology aimed at improving the care of patients with kidney disease.
The society aims to achieve and maintain the highest standards of clinical practice and promote training and education in the field of nephrology in Sri Lanka. The society works closely with other local, regional and international societies and is currently an affiliated society of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN).
